Visitors with disabilities

Since 2023, thanks to the restoration of the monument, the interior of the castle is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Tactile devices and interactive kiosks have also been installed for the visually and hearing impaired.

The entire team is committed to continuously improving the quality of its reception and the measures dedicated to people with disabilities.

Parking:

• The entrance to the castle is accessible from the parking lot via the street.
• Drop-off: it is possible to drop off people with reduced mobility at the entrance porch (no parking possible).
• Access reserved for wheelchair users' vehicles is possible from the visitors' parking lot to the courtyard: to open the gate, you must call in advance or make the request to the agents at reception once on site. 
   

Access to the monument

• An access ramp for people with reduced mobility allows access to the reception/ticket office/shop.
• Visitors in wheelchairs can nevertheless access the site without going through the reception, ticketing and boutique: the agent posted at the reception then opens the chain at the building allowing direct access to the aisles.
• The main courtyard and terraced gardens are accessible to people with reduced mobility. Access remains difficult due to coarse gravel paths. The park is not very accessible to people with reduced mobility because the paths are gullied and have a steep drop-off.
• Benches are installed in the gardens. 
• A picnic area, with tables and chairs, is set up under the dryer (at the reception-ticket office). This area allows you to take a break at any time during opening hours.
• Presence of 3 steps to reach the castle’s entrance gate
• Entrance dedicated to people in wheelchairs through the West Gallery via a ramp and, with the help of the agent, easily reach the two mediation rooms where the tour begins. 
• From the first mediation room, visitors with reduced mobility can access the first part of the Bussy-Rabutin wing, the Salle des Devises: a mobile ramp can then connect this room to the other rooms on the ground floor located in the Sarcus wing.
• A lift serves the first floor; it is accessible with the help of an agent from the courtyard, via the dedicated galer entrance.

Good to know

• The entrance and exit of the monument are in the same place.
• The entire tour route is accessible to people with reduced mobility. A lift located in the east gallery allows access to the floor. Only the two rooms of the Tour Renaissances (temporary exhibition rooms) are not accessible (access by a narrow spiral staircase).
• Guide and assistance dogs are allowed in all areas.
• Handrails are present along all the stairs.
• Gray benches are arranged in the rooms of the castle.
• Benches are arranged in the garden.
• The toilets in the courtyard are adapted for people with reduced mobility.
• It is advisable to provide support for people in wheelchairs, especially at the park.

Tools and devices promoting understanding and knowledge of the monument are offered to people with disabilities in order to improve the quality of their visit:

Tactile and sound devices are accessible in the first introductory room for the visit: (relief portraits of Count Roger de Rabutin, his mistress Madame de Montglas, coat of arms of the counts of Sarcus, Renaissance frieze; relief model and braille of the castle; audio terminals).

Bag Bussy Serein offers various tools that can facilitate the visit: an anti-noise headset, tinted glasses, a stress ball, a mask, a magnifying glass, pictogram cards of emotions to help express one’s feelings. Five "Bussy Serein" bags are available on loan at the reception, including one specially adapted for children.

Two wheelchairs (one at the reception, more suitable for outdoor use and one at the castle) can also be lent.
