Presentation
An iconic monument in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region forthe 2018 edition of the Heritage Lottery - As part of the Mission Bern initiative, the chateau underwent a major restoration project between 2019 and 2023, led by the Centre des monuments nationaux with support from the Ministry of Culture, the government’s recovery plan and the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region.
The work focused primarily onthe wing known as the Sarcus Wing, named after the 19th-century owner who saved the château from ruin. Following a programme of structural works to improve the monument’s condition, the Centre des monuments nationaux was able to undertake the restoration of the interiors.
Take part in a ‘seek and find’ activity to discover the work carried out in the various rooms of this 19th-century wing: can you spot the different spaces highlighted here as they appeared before restoration?
In the 18th-century kitchen, an exhibition of photographs taken during the restoration work will also give you an insight into this major project.
