Presentation

In the exceptional setting of the Grand Commun of the Château de Bussy-Rabutin, the Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne invites the formidable artists Adélaïde Ferrière and Nathan Mierdl to perform a dazzling programme straddling two European traditions: Germanic music in the gallant style of Mozart in 1775, and the Italian late Baroque music of Antonio Vivaldi.

This alternation is made possible by two arrangements for marimba of the concerti for flautino by the red-headed priest. The programme thus comprises four pieces featuring a face-off at the summit: four rounds. The duel is engaged; four strings rubbed against dozens of tubular resonators, and the weapons are already known; one bow against four sticks.

The vitality of these concertante works, their melodic richness and the abundance of their motifs promise some fine moments of joy and elation. A jubilant concert, as lyrical as it is percussive!

The Burgundy Orchestra

The Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne pursues an artistic dynamic focused on excellence in the performance of the symphonic repertoire, from the classical era to the present day.

Since the 2022-2023 season, the Franco-Swiss conductor Joseph Bastian has been its Principal Conductor. As an ensemble associated with theDijon Opera, the ODB performs on stage and in the pit of the Auditorium, accompanying audacious productions and renowned soloists (Bruno Philippe, Victor Julien-Laferrière, Denis Kozhukhin, Adélaïde Ferrière, Matthias Winckhler) under the direction of renowned conductors such as Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, Iñaki Encina Oyón, Adrien Perruchon, Antonello Allemandi and Nicolas Krüger.

The Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne regularly enriches its seasons with creative projects, collaborating with contemporary composers of varied aesthetics (Brigitta Muntendorf, Marc-Olivier Dupin, Brice Pauset, Guillaume de Chassy, Andy Emler) and artists from different disciplines such as Cie Manie (contemporary circus), Ivan Grinberg (author), Yan Li (erhu), Régis Royer (actor), Marion Tassou (recitalist) and Élodie Sicard (dancer). The ODB is also a guest at the festivals Musique & Vin, Les Rencontres Musicales de Vézelay, Street Art on the Roc and Les Musicales en Folie.

Alongside its symphonic and operatic activities, theODB offers a chamber music season in various heritage venues in Dijon, as well as a number of initiatives aimed at audiences who are unable to travel (Petites Musique de Chambres) and introductions to instrumental playing in the city's priority neighbourhoods (Orchestre des Quartiers). Approved by the French Ministry of Education as an educational association that complements public education, the Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne builds pedagogical bridges with the Dijon Academy and Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional, and bridges the gap between training and a professional career with students at the ESM Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. It has a regional presence thanks to the diversity of its variable musical formations.

The Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne is subsidised by the City of Dijon, the Bourgogne Franche-Comté Region, the Ministère de la culture et de la communication - DRAC Bourgogne Franche-Comté and the Conseil Départemental de Côte d'Or.
