Presentation

The Centre des Monuments Nationaux is holding an exhibition entitled "Busy" at the Chateau de Bussy-Rabutin. The result of a collaboration with La Porcherie, a contemporary art gallery, the exhibition is curated by the artist Rémi Tamain.

Some blades are more hurtful or mutilating than others. The feather is one of these ultimate rapiers...Roger de Rabutin, moreover, was a fine swordsman in this respect! However, his cousin, Marie de Rabutin Chantal, Marquise de Sévigné, was not to be outdone. It's this pen that we'll be talking about in this exhibition. This skilful assembly of words can, if not make the most daring think, then make them bend.

In this exhibition, visitors will discover strong links with Madame de Sévigné and her work , as well as more tenuous ones that will require them to caress the intimate side of this beautiful marquise so enamoured of words and many other things...

Whether it be Jérôme Considérant, who will give us pointers as we read through his signposts; or Rohan Graeffly, who will punctuate the story sketched out by the "three plastic musketeers" with a few "postcards"; or Rémi Tamain, who will organically echo the century of Marie de Rabutin Chantal with a few indiscretions discovered through keyholes... All three will offer works that appear light-hearted... However, on closer inspection, these works are far more complex than we might have imagined.

The result is a body of work that's not so bare of meaning, where the full and the loose echo the literary flights of fancy and the bon mots of the divine letter writer.
