The "Maisons des Illustres" label guarantees a rich annual cultural programme.
Roger de Bussy-Rabutin was a colourful Burgundian at the court of the Sun King, a distinguished soldier, a libertine, a gallant man and a quick-witted academician. He left his mark on the salons of the 17th century and remains a key figure in French literature.
Exiled by King Louis XIV to his lands in Burgundy, he spent more than seventeen years creating an interior decor that evoked his nostalgia for the Court and reflected his feelings.
More than three hundred paintings adorn the walls, recounting the life of this flamboyant Burgundian nobleman and his nostalgia for the Court. It is a veritable comic strip of the Count's life that unfolds before our eyes, as well as an immersion in his social network and the Court of the Sun King.
It is against the backdrop of this rich and prolific history that the château has shone since the 17th century. A major programme of cultural events is offered throughout the year by the Centre des monuments nationaux, in partnership with the Côte d'Or department and the Burgundy Franche Comté region , as well as numerous collaborations with local associations (Association Doubles Résonnances, Fabrique à Berlue, etc.).
